This image, one of two (the other is Orb 9B), began as part of a photograph of pepper plants. You can see how different the effect is, depending upon which part of the photo you work with. Here, there is much more negative, or dark, space, which draws the viewer into the orb.
Pat Miller is drawn to color, form, and character in an effort to capture moments that possess a particular beauty or humor. She especially likes to photograph creatures (birds, mammals, insects), reflections, abstracts, and waterscapes. Her photos range from abstraction to hyper-realism as she works to balance complexity and simplicity. Originally an academic trained in literature, Pat Miller became an artist in her middle years. After growing up in Canton, OH, she transplanted herself to New England in 1971, where she has lived ever since, residing now in Willimantic, CT, and Charlestown, RI.
