This picture began as a photograph of autumn leaves and sky reflected in a pond. I worked with it to create an image that draws on the spirit of Klimt. While it harbors small delights, including many faces, it's also a busy, energetic piece, with a sense of political urgency--resistance. It's subtitle is "When Blue Turns Red."
Pat Miller is drawn to color, form, and character in an effort to capture moments that possess a particular beauty or humor. She especially likes to photograph creatures (birds, mammals, insects), reflections, abstracts, and waterscapes. Her photos range from abstraction to hyper-realism as she works to balance complexity and simplicity. Originally an academic trained in literature, Pat Miller became an artist in her middle years. After growing up in Canton, OH, she transplanted herself to New England in 1971, where she has lived ever since, residing now in Willimantic, CT, and Charlestown, RI.
